Light & Motion Named Small-Business of the Year

California State Assemblyman John Laird has named Light & Motion as the Small Business of the Year for the 27th Assembly District. Light & Motion CEO Daniel Emerson was on hand to receive the award on Wednesday, May 28th at the state capitol building in Sacramento.

“As a very successful small business, Light & Motion is showing the way forward in developing sustainable business practices while also maintaining a commitment to our community,” said Assemblymember Laird.  “I am especially proud to name Light & Motion as Small Business of the Year because of their stellar assistance during the 2007 San Francisco oil spill and their receipt of the state’s Waste Reduction Award for the last three years in a row.”

“I’d like to personally thank Assemblymember Laird for this honor” added Emerson, “We’re proud of Light & Motion’s environmental achievements. It is our hope that these decisions for sustainability will have a positive and lasting affect in our community and encourage other companies to take action.”

In addition to Wednesday’s honor, Light & Motion has received the Green Business Award from Monterey County for 2007, received the California state Waste Reduction Award Program (WRAP) three years in a row (2005-2007), and has been recognized by the Association of Monterey Bay Area Governments (AMBAG) for outstanding promotion of alternative transportation programs.
